Is it possible for mice to get a mineral from the dark volcanic rocks that changes their fur color to black? We will first look at Hydrangea flowers to see when the soil changes an organism's color, then look at the mice.
Hydrangea flowers depend on soil acidity for color. Acid soils produce blue flowers, and basic soils produce pink flowers. This is an example of an environmental cause for color. Blue flowers and red flowers have the exact same genes without a mutation.
In the movie, the scientist was excited to discover that fur color was actually genetic.
